Who ever wins; how is BushCo going to held accountable ....?
Will any accountablity just dissappear as soon as the Next President is Elected?
With Bush' Legal Coup D'Etat ... this is going to be interesting.
How is the Next President going to turn the Bankrupts Educational system around?
How is the Next President going to make basic proper Healthcare available to Americans?
How is the Next President going to Behave on a World Stage?
What is going Change .................. This is what I would like to know
Because this Toddler of a President has been allowed to play in the sandbox for a little too long, he basically dumped all the Sand outside, and expects the next President and future generation Americans to clean up the mess..... Oh, but wait, the toddler made sure, his downline and upline (and sidekick line) are set for life ....

Re: Bush; Clinton - Obama
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 8:39 AMThe next president, no matter who it is, will not be able to magically fix things. Its going to be a long, hard road for American in the next 4 years.
The question is, who can best slow America's demise?

Re: Bush; Clinton - Obama
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 8:54 AMThe question is, how will Americans be empowered to turn it around ... Will the focus continue to be on demise ..... or will the attention shift to greatness..... it's a matter of choice. -

Re: Bush; Clinton - Obama
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 9:21 AMObama could inspire people to look for greatness in America again.

Re: Bush; Clinton - Obama
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 9:38 AMMaybe ...
The Greatness of America; lies within Americans - day to day ... choice by choice. It's obvious that in the day to day, people are divided against themselves, in the Same way the next President's party is divided ... not to mention Congress.
What will it take for individual American human beings, begin WALKING the talk and not deligate their TALK for someone else to WALK, as they keep on doing what they do. How will greatness be supported in a nation that is fixated on finding something to blame and shame?
Take a Continuum........................................................................Neutral/Numb in the Middle
Sucks on this end................................................................................................................................................................................Awesome on this End.
Where do you think most day to day Americans reside, operating inside the current structures? -

Fri, May 9, 2008 - 9:39 AMThey reside inside debt, taxes and dead-end jobs you have to piss into a plastic jug to get.
These are control measures and they work rather well. -

Every last bit of any political situation hinges on what the governed will put up with.
I admire Frederick Douglass a lot. He was an American slave who escaped to the North to become a writer, activist and antislavery politician. Given that background, he saw things clearly enough to write this-
“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress." -

Yeah that sums it up ... and I'll add .... the mindset; "what's the monthly payment?"
The consumer addiction, is in full affect - soon there will be additional convenience penalties/taxes ...
Any one who doesn't have digital TV in 2009 - (is just one)
Oh, if you are not sure anymore what you are Committed to............. Just check what you spend time and money on... that is what you are committed too ...
I think that Starbucks has contributed to the Endurance level ... -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

We have such a thing because consumer culture attempts to co-opt or destroy everything that isn't consumer culture.
Americans have gotten sick of it before and will again. -

Re: Bush; Clinton - Obama
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 1:18 PMWell, yeah .... let's hope so. Right now there atleast a few MM customers shopping online, because they just can't live without more stuff and it being Friday, they got to have those Prada shoes going out on the strip tonight...... wishing they'd bump in to ... Paris Hilton ... Hahahaha..... oh... Being Human is a funny thing .... Being a Consciouss Human Being ... requires effort...
The next President; I am definately looking at the conversations the candidates are holding which to me is a demonstration of consciousness.
The higher the person in authority the greater is his responsibility to be conscious of his actions.
If immigrants require an immigration test, shouldn't Presiden't require a Consciousness test?
Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms in here ... and to all the moms .... period, I mean if it wasn't for all of our Moms we would not be typing in this Tribe ...

Re: Bush; Clinton - Obama
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 5:04 PMAs much as I may advocate for accountability, I must say that I don't expect any to be had. I think it will dog him for the rest of his life, even if not prosecuted. I hope but have no faith that the Democrats will push for continued investigation, particularly of evidence destruction, such as the "missing" e-mails. Subpeona the computers and have them torn apart, CSI style, I say! Can't just hit delete, you know. That stuff is recoverable.
Despite my desire to see justice done by congress upon his administration, it won't matter. He'll just get a pardon from Obama, using the same lame justification that kept Nixon out of the fryer, national morale, and all that bull-crap. Really it means, if I pardon him, when I get caught they'll pardon me. There's no real justice for those in the Oval Office. Prosecution would be a formality I'd believe when I see it done. I believe that's understood and exploited by this administration. Despite all the Bushisms we could cite, these aren't stupid people, at least not when it comes to not getting caught. I am predicting now:
(A) Sweep under/drop investigations, courtesy of Pelosi/Feinstien and other Pretend-ocrats.
(B) Stall out/blocked by Republicans out of misguided party loyalty.
(C) Pardon before conviction, citing national morale issues.
"so the nation can move on" will be the excuse in any case.
In order of likelihood, in my opinion.
