Re: The Politics of Comics
Sun, August 26, 2007 - 3:54 PMthe cartoon world today is a political hotbed, but i had no idea that this wasn't a new phenomenon.
just the latest example: the banned opus cartoon - with link to the cartoon (cartoon subject: lola granola becomes an islamist)
hotair.com/archives/200...opus-cartoon/
jeff rowland recently mocked himself for talking about nothing but politics (i discovered the opus thing in his blog)
overcompensating.com/posts/20070823.html
boy on a stick and slither is the steven wright of webcomics - almost always indirectly political

Mon, August 27, 2007 - 8:46 PMRidiculous, Comics have always been political just like any story telling medium they present there message through aligory. Next you will come up with revelation that Star trek is really about race relations. -

Tue, August 28, 2007 - 11:20 AMI think its pretty obvious that the different aliens represent different racial stereotypes. I would say that it was entirely about race relations. -

Re: The Politics of Comics
Tue, August 28, 2007 - 11:26 AMBy way part of Supermans character is that he is a Government stooge, a person that does not question authority, so naturally he is going to come off as supporting the current hegemony. As for the other examples of censorship, they would be censored in any medium, seriously are we to accept that banning graphic scenes of Childrape amounts to political censorship, give me a break.
