Looks to me like there's an overt plan by Republicans to do all that they can to harm any chance of any Democrat to govern.
When Obama took office, there was a note circulated saying how; at the time of that note and until Obama was out of office, to not work with the Obama Administration AT ALL, in order to cause a failed Obama administration. They went against EVERYTHING that he did, including federal justice appointees, just to create an air of a failed Obama Administartion.
The Republicans ALSO chose to manipulate the view of congress, in order to demonize the elected officials, who at that point were associated with the Dems.
Lie about propaganda points:
- Gas prices
- AG Holder witchhunt
To me, it seems that the Republican's goals are to just do ANYTHING, even if it harms America just to push forward this arch-conservative agenda.
This is not just another election cycle. This is formative attack on the America that we know now, and an attempt to create the America that the Conservatives want.
Another Republican administration will be so harmful to our future that the damage would be against the world's best interests.
Environment
Energy
Human Rights
(fill in the blank)
I am genuinely concerned about the future with a Republican administration. This is not about some partisan issues that to you are important or to me are important. We're talking about a massive shift in the safety of our world, because if we have the Republicans in the Oval Office for just ONE MORE term, we are so fucked that I don't see a way to reverse their damage. They will seat dozens of federal justices, INCLUDING probably two SCOTUS justices, and they will set in place such regressive taxes that it will so harm our economy that it will cause millions of people to be fucked, which will cause social upheaval which will work into the hands of those that like private prisons & militarized local police forces.
When one billionaire can outspend pretty much the rest of us in this next election cycle, do you really think that it will be easy to beat him? Do you really think that his goals for his candidate (Mitt Romney) are in YOUR best interests?

Re: The Overt Republican Conspiracy
Wed, June 27, 2012 - 4:43 PMAbout the only hope the electoral system has left (and it's beginning to look likely) is if Mitt spends a billion dollars to win and *still* loses.
Just you wait. When that happens, you'll see the conservative majority on SCROTUS vote to overturn Citizen's United in a heartbeat, precedent or no precedent.
It looks increasingly obvious that those five justices voted the way they did for one reason and *only* one reason- Get Obama. Nothing else really makes any sense. Once that reason is gone and Big O gets another term, why would they let stand a decision that might let *Hillary* raise a billion? -

Re: The Overt Republican Conspiracy
Wed, June 27, 2012 - 5:33 PMNo they won't. The SCOTUS can't just "vote to overturn Citizen's United in a heartbeat" unless there's a case brought to them. Even then, they won't do it. A Conservative will do what Conservatives do.
<Once that reason is gone and Big O gets another term, why would they let stand a decision that might let *Hillary* raise a billion?>
Because a Republican cal always raise more money. The issue here is a bad candidate for the R's. If they feel that they have a good candidate, the money gates will open in a larger flood. -

Thu, June 28, 2012 - 10:49 AM<< unless there's a case brought to them >>
Like *that* can't be arranged! Mounting a test case would be child's play for Beltway GOPers.
This Roberts Court would grant cert to any wingnut suit, even one filed in crayon by a retarded chimp. Or even Ann Coulter.
<< Even then, they won't do it. A Conservative will do what Conservatives do. >>
And all they want to do is hang onto power at any cost. At this point, they've abandoned any discernible principle and are fighting like Hell just to keep their limousines. Their voting base is old, shrinking and wacky. There's no leadership and no program other than Get Obama. Their pols are busy alienating huge chunks of the electorate, possibly forever, and the capers their so-called "intellectuals" cut do little but repulse intelligent people worldwide.
Movement conservatism's time is all used up.

Than *Hillary*? I kinda doubt that.
Imagine where banker money might go in a Hillary vs. Huckabee race and think again... -

Re: The Overt Republican Conspiracy
Wed, July 4, 2012 - 9:43 AMFrom Justice Breyer's dissent-
<< Thus, Montana’s experience, like considerable experience
elsewhere since the Court’s decision in Citizens United, casts grave doubt on the Court’s supposition that independent expenditures do not corrupt or appear to do so. >>
Is he describing the usual wingnut ideological myopia or did the five conservatives hear Their Master's Voice?
