I hope the Clinton backers are happy! They're lined up against Olbermann, Kos, and with Rush now.

You may have missed it - almost everyone missed it - but Bill Clinton was on Rush Limbaugh's show the day of the Texas primary. You can hear the radio here. Limbaugh himself was sick that day, apparently, but he had already urged Republicans to cross over to keep Hillary Clinton in the race. Bill saw an opening - and went there.
Now just wrap your mind around this: the Clintons were happy to support a cynical, partisan Republican campaign to wound the Democratic front-runner, and they were brazen enough to go on the Limbaugh show to do so.
There also seems little doubt that Republican mischief played a real role in affecting the results. And they call Obama's call for them to release their tax returns a tactic worthy of Ken Starr. I repeat: the chutzpah and the cynicism just leave you speechless. And as you find it impossible to do much but splutter, the Clintons plow on with new self-serving lies.
You know how I realized this? I saw first hand the way they dealt with gay issues in their first term. They didn't just wimp out on our push for marriage equality, they actively pivoted off homophobia to get a few points (ask Dick Morris; it's one of the things he's actually ashamed of in retrospect). The Clintons even put anti-gay ads on Christianist radio stations in the South to build support for the 1996 re-election. And they continue to show up at gay events claiming to be avatars for our civil rights. And the stupid gays still believe them!

It's actually fairly mild. Limbaugh was not the host that day. The worst part is the Clinton's about face on Michigan and Florida. If I hear one more Clinton supporter conjure up the ghost of Florida 2000, to count this meaningless primary, I swear I'm going to puke.

Re: bill clinton on limbaugh show bashing obama
Sat, March 15, 2008 - 3:42 PMSay what you will about Bill Clinton but he took the democratic party at least a few steps to the right......and was able to govern somewhat from the middle. He adopted good ideas from the republicans (notably tommy thompson) and he seemed to know exactly what was required to keep business humming.
Obama is the most liberal guy in the senate. You guys think heavier tax burdens and government spending plans are they way to prosperity and happiness............think again.
All this talk of change and finding a new way to govern........is just a smooth syrupy opiate.........
(heavens I just typed something nice about Clinton, this is what it has come to) -

uspolitics.tribe.net/thread/...0326b338

or provide reasonable explanations as to how each of these two questions is not sensible.
That should be easy, right? -

I rely on anecdotal evidence that if you had felt a "right winger" had written such a sexist article about Hillary and her wrinkles you would have had a hissy fit. Or if someone had written that Obama's wife had wrinkles and a big arse.............
as to the second I typically don't read something from the Kos.....or whatever polemic little doctrine you rely upon to get your information...................

What anecdotal evidence?
"as to the second I typically don't read something from the Kos"
Oh I *see*. So you refuse to even take into *consideration* something that you even *suspect* might run contrary to your beliefs and assumptions. I understand. -

Re: bill clinton on limbaugh show bashing obama
Sat, March 15, 2008 - 6:42 PMAs a side note, glennzzz, I find it quite amusing that you would assert that the fact that you're unwilling to even *read* the post in question is a reasonable explanation as to how the question itself is not sensible. -

Re: bill clinton on limbaugh show bashing obama
Sat, March 15, 2008 - 6:27 PMGlen,
George Bush is not a fiscal conservative. You have to have a balanced budget for that. I would say Bill Clinton is far more of a fiscal conservative then GW. He actually had a budget surplus. As for Obama, he is pretty liberal. The study that came out about him being liberal was not very comprehensive, but you are right. Taxes will increase under an Obama admin. But that i believe is just in the short run. The long term perspective is that he will cut our unnecessary spending (Iraq and other wasteful programs) and work on ways America can gain money. Such as our government leading the world in renewable energy. He did a great job with renewable energy while in the Illinois senate.
As for Bill Clinton on Rush Limbaugh. We should all remember that Bill Clinton was a scandalis president who greatly embarrassed us. He was involved in special interests out the ears, and completely unethical behavior. Hillary was the backbone of this catastrophe. -
-
Re: bill clinton on limbaugh show bashing obama
Sat, March 15, 2008 - 6:36 PMHome,
I agree on nearly everything you said about Clinton...........but I do think he/she would govern to the right economically of Obama.
To say that Obama would cut spending is pretty much something one would have to take on faith. There is no record of him cutting spending in a meaningful way and other than pulling troops from Iraq he has pretty much guaranteed that it is his intention to expand the nanny state so to speak...........
As far as government leading the way in energy, look around the world at countries whose government are (as opposed to business) involved in energy production. Go ahead.......rattle them off one by one...........the energy production is either a disaster (mexico, venezuela) or we are talking about very corrupt dictatorships or quasi dictatorships........If Obama wants to spur development of green energies he needs to put out a big fat tax incentive for companies to spend more money in research and development.........
If Obama said something like that I would listen a bit more closely.............and I means say it. Don't dig up some line in a speech either

Barack Obama's Record
* Renewable Fuels: Obama has worked on numerous efforts in the Senate to increase access to and use of renewable fuels. Obama passed legislation with Senator Jim Talent (R-MO) to give gas stations a tax credit for installing E85 ethanol refueling pumps. The tax credit covers 30 percent of the costs of switching one or more traditional petroleum pumps to E85, which is an 85 percent ethanol/15 percent gasoline blend. Obama also sponsored an amendment that became law providing $40 million for commercialization of a combined flexible fuel vehicle/hybrid car within five years.
S. 115: Oil SENSE Act
Democrats in the House of Representatives want to include provisions in pending energy legislation that would strip about $21 billion in tax subsidies from oil and gas companies and put them toward subsidies for renewable energy sources like wind and solar.
